Weatherstone Academy is an exceptional option for astute 6th graders who are ready to take on the next level of academic challenge, but desire a smaller, more intimate learning environment. Weatherstone students have built academic stamina and are developmentally ready for more complex content, increasingly independent home study assignments, student leadership opportunities, and a more mature working environment. Supports are available for students presenting with dyslexia, dysgraphia, or mild learning challenges.
Alternatively, our 6th grade program at EdVentures individualizes rigor and home study expectations, provides opportunities for reviewing foundational skills in reading and math, builds academic stamina through increasingly complex assignments, while also providing ample socialization breaks in our green space. Students in the EdVentures 6th grade program will progress to Weatherstone Academy in 7th grade.

Our Jr. High program offers comprehensive instruction in the core subjects (ELA, Math, Science, and Social Studies) plus a fun and engaging afternoon rotation of topics related to Family and Consumer Sciences (cooking, health, first aid, personal finance, sewing, and more!). We offer a relaxed, stress-reduced setting that fosters academic growth and working stamina, sparks creativity and critical thinking, nurtures social relationships, and builds self-esteem. Our "Jr. High" model offers a unique benefit as it gives 9th graders a softer start into high school coursework, while simultaneously creating an opportunity for rigor-seeking 8th graders to get a head start on high school credits. In addition, our mixed-age model provides flexibility in course placement based on individual academic abilities. This ensures students receive the appropriate level of support and/or challenge needed to meet both present-day demands and prepare for future endeavors. Our courses demand that students rise to a new challenge in their academic journey, but are still in line with our relaxed, hands-on, inquiry-driven approach. In addition, we will continue to tailor courses to individual student needs - providing access to support tools for students with learning challenges and/or curating additional rigor through projects or research opportunities to those who want it.

Our Friday Learning Lab includes Math (home study support, fluency activities for multiplication and division, project-based math activities, unit-based math concepts), Creative Writing (narratives, poetry, etc.), Science Lab (a hands-on lab that complements our hybrid unit studies), plus Art and World Cultures (country studies, cooking, art, a cultural exhibition, etc).

Hosted at our EdVentures location, this program features access to our full kitchen (helllooooo kitchen science!) and ample socialization breaks where students can enjoy time in our forest, playing a game of basketball or badminton on the blacktop, and more!
